What's fun & fashionable in the 419?
Looking for something fun & fashionable to do in the 419 this weekend? If you're into art and ready for holiday shopping, there's plenty on the calendar! I'm going to be checking people off my gift list at Handmade Toledo's Maker's Mart. This incredible "indie craft fair" happens twice a year and each time I count down the days. I'm so excited to see past and new vendors; their unique, handmade creations and the local pride the arts community shares.
At last year's Maker's Mart, I fell in love with the colorful scarf pictured above by Mitten Made. Lucky for me I received it as a Christmas gift from my mom. Mitten Made will again be selling at the craft fair. The other scheduled vendors pictured above are Burrowing Home from illustrator Kelly Mitchell Gazdowicz; Cavatica Designs, jewelry made with ceramic clay and On the Lookout, beaded bracelets and more by Erica Young.
After our holiday shopping, my mom and I will mosey our way to lunch. I'd like to try the authentic Italian at the new Toledo Art & Food, but there are plenty of locally owned options: The Blarney, Petit Fours Patisserie, Ye Olde Durty Bird and Homeslice Pizza, to name a few.
That night, find a dance partner and continue your support of the arts at the Toledo School for the Arts' Dance Party, a disco-themed fundraising event and $5,000 reverse raffle. Or switch gears, grab some friends and a cold beer at the Toledo Walleye game. They play both Friday and Saturday nights.
