My 2017 Oscars Best Dressed List

Tonight is The Oscars, my favorite night of cinema celebration, red carpet fashion and dreams come true! Below is my best dressed list with abbreviated captions so that I can get back to the show. But before I go, I do want to note the trends of the night - velvet, ruffles, feathers, champagne (the color... and probably the bubbly), metallics and shiny embellishments. Feeling fancy, incorporate one of these on your next night out!

Hailee Steinfeld in Ralph and Russo – One of the first looks of the night and Wow! She is killin’ it. The pastel flowers, scalloped trim and flowing skirt are so feminine and ethereal, but that high neckline, cinched waist, sleek hair and sexy makeup, give it some sass.

Emma Stone in Givenchy – Shimmery champagne and gold beading with scrolling details and a flapper’s fringe – breathtaking! Plus, her romantic hair in structured waves and that red lip. One of my favorite Emma looks ever.

Kirsten Dunst in Christian Dior – It’s black and simple, but she looks absolutely stunning. The shape – rounded neckline, cinched waist, full high-low skirt – is so flattering. The necklace and peek at her shoes add some interest and I adore her seemingly effortless tousled curls.

Janelle Monáe in Elie Saab – For her first Oscars, this girl went all out! This dress is a masterpiece with metallic embellishments, rows of beading and that sheer bodice displaying her gravity-defying body. This look deserves its own award.

Taraji P. Henson in Alberta Ferretti – Another simple look of navy velvet, but damn, she is gorgeous! And there’s those tousled curls again. The deep V neckline, cap sleeves, high slit, diamond collar and lush fabric are all too fabulous.

Emma Roberts in vintage Armani Privé – First, it’s vintage. Sigh. Second, that lace halter and lace tiered skirt is romantic and glamorous and she wears it flawlessly.

Brie Larson in Oscar de la Renta – I debated on including another seemingly simple, dark dress, but I decided to include it because of two details. I’m taken with the oversized, structured ruffles and that the underside is a different texture, making the ruffles pop even more. Plus, I’m a sucker for that exaggerated deep V neckline. It’s simply gorgeous.

Lastly, those who bravely sported the blue American Civil Liberties Union ribbon are all worthy of best dressed awards.
